The first post-war game played on the Idaho campus featured the two teams from the
Palouse. Washington State visited Moscow and administered a 43-12 beating of the Vandals. The loss foreshadowed the rest of the season in which Idaho’s only victory came against the lowly Montana Griz.
One of the biggest issues with Idaho’s 1945 squad was the lack of depth. The team was made up of a majority freshman, and it showed. Idaho dropped two games to Farragut Navy. As a sign of the times, Idaho not only played Farragut Navy twice, but also Washington State, losing both games.
